Job Type: Full-time
Job-Location: Dallas, TX (Remote)
Position Description:
Support and perform comprehensive transmission planning studies, including but not limited to full interconnection studies (associated with renewable, storage, and emerging technologies), annual planning studies, NERC Compliance studies, small signal stability studies, SSR evaluations, power quality, and EMT studies.
Perform interconnection studies for electric utility clients, along with identifying new transmission solutions needed to reliably integrate the proposed technology into the grid based on the regional reliability criteria.
Assist the broader EEPLUS team in performing transmission origination, evaluation, and recommendation studies for utility clients to meet regional reliability criteria, including but not limited to providing technical support during the stakeholder review process.
Support team on all aspects of grid integration of large loads and the associated interconnection processes and procedures across all major ISO/RTO markets across the US starting with the ERCOT grid.
Perform grid integration studies associated with emerging technologies and large load interconnections for both customers as well as electric utilities. Basic studies are expected to include steady state studies, contingency analysis, motor-starting studies, and transient stability studies.
Work closely with potential customers ranging from data centers, crypto-mining facilities, O&G electrification facilities, hydrogen electrolyzer facilities, EV firms, LNG facilities, to guide them through the emerging grid-code compliance guidelines in their relevant ISO/RTO markets.
Support in performing more advanced power system studies to support the design and engineering of large load facilities, including but not limited to harmonic analysis, transient over-voltage (TOV) studies, Sub-Synchronous Resonance (SSR) studies, voltage-ride through (VRT) compliance studies, ramp rate compliance studies, voltage flicker assessments, switching over-voltage assessments and insulation coordination studies.
Perform research to assist the team of engineers on the development of advanced dynamic models for data center and generative AI loads, including parametrization of the dynamic load models, testing the load models for VRT/FRT compliance and recommendations on equipment augmentation to demonstrate grid code compliance.
